Partners Health Plan’s core values are rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).  We are committed to promoting and elevating awareness of issues impacting members, families, and employees in the communities where they live, work, and play.  Please join us this month in elevating awareness for the following campaigns:

National Family Caregivers Month

November is National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM). NFCM is observed annually to recognize and honor family caregivers across the nation. It’s an opportunity to elevate awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities, and increase support for caregivers.

The national observance is spearheaded by Caregiver Action Network (CAN), a nonprofit that provides free education, peer support, and resources to family caregivers. CAN announced the 2021 theme, #CaregiverAnd which encourages family caregivers to celebrate the passions and interests that enrich their lives. This is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. LEARN MORE.

International Day for Tolerance

In 1996, the United Nations declared November 16 as International Day for Tolerance.  Intolerance, or the lack of understanding, can create barriers for a person with a disability, including in the work place.  Did you know the employment rate for a New Yorker with a disability (age 18 – 64) is 31.2% compared to 72% for a person without a disability, resulting in a gap of 40.8% according to New York State (click here)?

Partners Health Plan members are sharing their employment journey stories to elevate awareness and help to remove stigma and stereotypes.  These stories describe the diverse experiences of people with disabilities and the employers that are benefiting from the dedication these talented individuals bring to their professional roles.  READ THEIR STORIES!

National Rural Health Day

November 18 is National Rural Health Day (NRHD). The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) declares the third Thursday of every November as NRHD to elevate awareness on the importance of Americans living in rural areas and the dedication of healthcare providers in ensuring they can access quality care for their health and well-being. LEARN MORE.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20, 2021 is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). This is an annual observance that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. LEARN MORE.
